Second Skin Project: look polished all day in just 35 minutes!

Hello, it’s me (again) LoL!

So today I had this office event at the toll road of Surabaya- Gresik and I, along with some other colleague girls at office, had been asked to assist the event. We were told to be “ready” at office at 6 AM sharp because we were supposed to leave the office together heading to the event location, because the city mayor was coming and the event were rescheduled to be one hour earlier.

So there, you can envision how tough it is for a girl to be “ready” at such early morning. It was quite hectic for almost everybody involved and in charged. *sigh*

I couldn’t sleep practically all night (I swear I’m gonna redeem my lost sleeping hours tonight and tomorrow, LoL) because I was terrified of oversleeping.

I think I’m kind of an over-thinker being, sometimes.

My brain just can’t be shut down at times it really needs to stop thinking, for instance: when I’m going to sleep and my body requires to rest and off course my head needs to be resting and sleeping with such a peaceful heart.
It sounds like tiring, right? LoL

So finally I fell asleep (I don’t recall what hour) and woke up at 4 and felt like a zombie, literally.
I started putting my make up on at around 4:50 and finished at 5:25 so I guess it took me around 35 minutes. Looks like a long time but trust me, Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner need 2,5 to 3 hours to apply their makeup.

Ah-mazing, riiiiite? LoL

So if you were their boyfriends then you’d better be really patient waiting for them finishing their makeup but trust me, it may take a long time for a girl to put their makeup on... but you’ll not gonna regret the result.

*wink*

Anyway, I’m not saying that my makeup look good or whatever but I like this look because it will not make you look like “too white“ or overdoing your face.

The basic rule of putting makeup on is only one:

When you go “heavy” on the eyes, keep everything else neutral; when you want to wear bright colored lipstick(s), keep the eyes and cheek area “almost bare” or as minimum color as possible.

Easy, right?

So this is the makeup look for today’s event (no filter, no retouch):

Here are the list of products that I used, product details and how I put them on:

  • ·       SUNBLOCK. (Kiehl’s Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF 50 PA+++ UV A)

Let’s face it, I work in an area with extreme heat and full of sun exposure and very windy.
I can’t skip sunblock because I love my skin.
I’ve been working so hard, too hard, to keep it free from pimples and post-acne marks (though I do have them on my cheeks :( ).
I like this sunblock because like the name, it’s ULTRA LIGHT and it gives such a lovely soft glow that won’t make your face all that shiny. Just love this.

  • ·       PRIMER. (Nyx “Angel Veil” Skin Perfecting Primer Oil-Free)

If you’re my friends for quite a long time and you’ve read all my writings about makeup or skincare, you’ll know how I like using PRIMERS.
It will smoothen up your makeup, it has this “soft focus” effect when foundation and powder are applied afterwards. Long story short, it’s gonna make your face looking “fresher”.
I like using primers because I used to have oily skin. Thank God now it is getting better and I can proudly say that now my skin is normal-combination (though I still think that I have this acne-prone tendency, especially when my period is coming closer).
I have several primers from different brands and today I used Nyx “Angel Veil” (since it’s the newest).
You only need to use a very little amount, just a dot, about the size of a baked nut snack, for the whole face.

  • ·       Cream Compact FOUNDATION (Extra Virgin Minerals by The Body Shop)

You can’t make your makeup to last all day without putting any “base” underneath face powder, right? Either it’s CC cream (the lightest) or BB cream (pretty light coverage) or foundie (full coverage). Today I wore foundie and even it’s full coverage, I’ve never been a fan of any foundation that covers your whole face like a mask.
It’s pure scary because your face and skin would be very different in shades.

Weird, huh? LoL

Bobbi Brown said, foundation should look like skin. That’s why, you must be cerewet when it comes to buying foundations, because you spend a lot of money on something that’s gonna “change” your look. You should really invest on something good and it must be on the perfect shade that’s closest to your natural skin tone.

This is the first time I choose foundation from The Body Shop and I’m pretty happy about it.
My shade is 205 “rose vanilla”. It’s not TOO WHITE, it’s just like skin.
How can I be not happy? :)

·    LOOSE POWDER (Ben Nye Banana Luxury Powder)
I bought this patungan with one of my friends, LoL
So we bought a jar and share it. It’s been said that this is one of Kim Kardashian’s favourite setting powder. I can see why. I can’t explain here but you must experience it yourself, if you want.
It’s a very good setting powder that doesn’t clog pores. I wear this powder almost everyday and next time I would repurchase because it’s worth the price. It’s not like it’s mahal-mahal banget but I think a small jar would last about 6-7 month, so it’s a pretty worthy investment, right?

·       A little dust of BLUSH ON (Tango with Bronzing Powder by NYX TWBP04 “When Leopard Gets a Tan”)
I’m not a fan of SHINY makeup but I like this glow this NYX blusher gives me all the time. It’s not norak at all, it’s just “pas” even my face is semi-oily. It lasts all day even after you blot your face with blotting papers, after you have wudhu (well in this case re-applying a bit of it won’t be a crime) and in humid weather, if you’re sweaty or anything.
I’d say if next time I’m on low budget and can’t repurchase my favourite MAC blusher, I’d buy this again because it’s…. just lovely!!

·       BRONZER (Sleek MakeUP Face Form Contouring and Blush Palette in Light 373)
This is the best and economical trio palette every girl must have. I put this on my makeup pouch because I bring this everywhere. It’s VERY PRACTICAL but they’re seriously good. I like the bronzer, I like the blusher and OK… I think the highlighter is doing OK (because again, I’m not a fan of glowing makeup) but somehow kadang berguna juga ada highlighter on the go didalam makeup pouch kita. I use the bronzer to contour my nose area, faking cheekbones (LOL) and dust it around my forehead area and jawline.

·       LIPSTICK (Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick in 830 HD Rose & NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in SMLC04 London)
I mixed these two colors. For base, never forget to apply lip balm (it’s a MUST MUST MUST or at least it’s a must for me because I love lip balms) then I use Revlon HD lipstick first. Let it set about 2 or 3 minutes so that when you apply the next lipstick the color won’t be ruined. It’s gonna look like my favourite MAC in “Kinda Sexy” with a twist. I just love the nude color and the sensation it gives on my lips. It’s velvety, it’s creamy, makes me feel like want to bite my own lips, LoL.

·       EYEBROW (NYX Tame & Frame Tinted Brow Pomade in TFBP04 Espresso, apply it with this double sided eyebrow brush from BH Cosmetic)
To be honest I’m not a fan of eyebrow and I still think I suck at drawing eyebrows. Aku suka banget sama Olla Ramlan including her strong brow shape and everytime I try to create such eyebrow, selalu end up messy like ulat bulu, ahaha… But nevermind, I keep on trying until I think I’m coming closer to my eyebrow dream shape. I’m using this Nyx brow pomade because it’s the dupe of Anastasia Beverly Hills brow pomade yang harganya rada ngga terjangkau buat aku lagipula I don’t use this everyday.
The result is pretty impressive!! It lasts all day, it’s water and sweatproof sehingga aman dipakai wudhu sekalipun. The brow brush juga enak dipakai, ngga boros produk (hmmm!!) dan sikatnya ngga tajam (karena aku pernah beli brow brush dan sikatnya tajam-tajam which is painful).

·       MASCARA (Anna Sui Length & Separation Mascara in 001 black)
Buat mascara juga aku ngga ada favourite2-an sebenarnya, I just like trying and hopping from one brand to others because it’s just mascara, dampaknya ngga signifikan seperti foundation or skincare, right? Hasilnya? Ya seperti mascara pada umumnya aja lah gimana :) Yang jelas ini waterproof dan non-clumping. You can’t compare it apple to apple like Anna Sui to Maybelline or Revlon ya because it’s pasti berbeda but it’s worth the price. Love!!

·       FALSIES (Lashes by Moza in Medium)
A bestfriend of mine gave me these lovely falsies all from Lashes by Moza, from Light, Medium and Premium. It’s lightweight and ngga bikin ngantuk kalau dipakai (asal makainya ngga tumpuk2 yaa). I used the Medium one. Ukuran panjangnya pas jadi ngga perlu pakai acara gunting2 bulumata segala. Tinggal pasang lem, tiup2 dikit lalu pasang.

·       EYELINER (Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Liner in 01 Black)
Another waterproof item. I applied it very thinly and lightly because the color is VERY INTENSE and I don’t want to look all that dramatic.

OK so that’s all I did to my face and how the makeup stayed for almost all-day.

Every several hours I do must blot my face but it doesn’t matter, I am thankful for my face oils somehow because it won’t make my face dry and dehydrated. I only need to know how to take a good care of it so that it won’t be too oily and not turning it into dry skin as well.

Too oily skin or too dry skin are not the best make up canvas, don’t forget to take care of your skin, babes!

Newcomers: The Bath Box Be My Honey and Vanilla body wash & Vanilla Lip Taffy

OK, I've gotta admit that I'm such a The Bath Box addict!

It feels like it was just yesterday I heard about it and now I've had five of its items.

Three of them I already talked about on my last post (Goats Don't Lie Avocola; Breakfast Porridge face mask and Baby Attack body lotion), please check out in case you're new to this blog anyway and two of them are new:

Be My Honey and Vanilla liquid soap and Vanilla Lip Taffy

So now the thing is: I decided to re-purchase the liquid soap BECAUSE somehow I'm IN LOVE with Goats Don't Lie (Avocola - which smells just like an avocado flavoured cola).  I don't know what exact ingredients and HOW they created its formula but... man, my facial skin loves it like... A LOT and I think I'm gonna be using The Bath Box liquid soap for my face wash for a long, long time.

It really came out of nowhere (I mean, like, has anybody heard about "The Bath Box" before? And if you did hear about it, would you just buy and wash your FACE with the "unknown" thing with "unknown" ingredients??? ) and I usually pretty PICKY when it comes to choosing face washes. But with this one, I DID try wash my face with it after my all-time favourite cleansing oil from L'Occitane and the result? It's just non-greasy (ngga berminyak dan ngga licin juga ngga kering).

Keren kan?

Sempat ngga percaya sama hasilnya waktu pertama kali pakai then I gave it another try the next day in the morning and what it brought me? The same, clean, radiant feeling.

Keren beneran.

Well I don't normally compliment anything, like... really

I only feel like if I must compliment ANYTHING, it must be because something REAL and GOOD.

With this liquid soaps from The Bath Box, both for GOATS DON'T LIE AVOCOLA and BE MY HONEY AND VANILLA liquid soaps, I'm in love. Once again, maybe other people wash their bodies with these soap but I think I'm pretty happy with just any body wash but finding a perfect facial wash that suits your skin is something that you can't do everyday.

Like myself, I've been to so many times of ups and downs, finding the perfect skincare for my face, because to be honest, I don't want to be "ketergantungan obat dokter" or whatever beauty clinics give me on the prescription. I'm not saying that those are bad thing to do, it's just my life choice. I'm just thinking about all the what-ifs, for instance:

- what if all of a sudden the doctor dies? (OMG really, did I ever think about it? LoL)
- what if all of a sudden the clinic stops operating while I'm on "perawatan"???
- what if something happen to me and I can no longer purchase the krim-krim and toner et cetera (naudzubillahi min dzalik jangan sampai ya Allah) ???
- and like 1000 more what ifs (trust me, those are just my crazy what ifs and please don't feel provoked or offended. :)

So the following pictures are the newcomers:

Be My Honey and Vanilla (sounds super sweet, LoL)

This smells just like what it's written on the label: like you've been out to the farm to collect some honey. Awww I can't get enough of sniffing it on my hands everytime I'm done washing my face. Sometimes I use it as hand wash (just to smell it afterwards).

What's the difference between this and Avocola?

Well the ingredients, off course.

The main ingredients of THIS liquid soap is wild honey (it's said it's using Borneo wild honey) while AVOCOLA's main ingredient is goat milk. It's just it smells like someone made you drink and drunk on avocado - cola beverage which I'm also crazy about.

Apparently and coincidentally they both pamper my skin too much and the thing that I'm happiest about is THE PRICE is VERY AFFORDABLE. Don't compare with local products or other commercial products which will make this brand looks expensive, but compare them to other drugstore or more premium products --> you'll get what I mean.

All right, I'm done complimenting the soaps and we're moving on to the next stuff:

This Vanilla Lip Taffy is actually a lip scrub.

It comes with a really tiny container (the same size of your lip balms, approximately) and it tastes sweet. Literally sweet, because it's made from sugar and I think they're using olive oil or something in the mixture?

I decided to buy this lip scrub because I realised my addiction to lipsticks and I'm not using just one lipstick brand but MANY, so I realised how I've been so cruel to my lips :( :(

So when you, yes you, decide to buy this, use this in line with your skin-cleansing regimens. I use this after I'm done with cleansing oil (since this lip scrub is also oily). Apply just a LITTLE pinch of this and scrub your lips GENTLY (remember that your lips skin is very delicate) with circular motion for about 1 minute. You can taste the sweetness of its sugar (yum!!) but remember that it's not supposed to be swallowed, LoL. It could contain other chemicals we have no idea about, right?

I'm not saying that this product is juara or whatever but having a little twist on your skincare regimens could be fun, right? If you're accustomed to scrubbing your lips with your fave products then it's fine. I just like the cuteness of its packaging; the lovely scent of its scrub and how my lips feels like after being scrubbed.

So smooth and so kissable, oops ;p

Next time around I think I'm still gonna be purchasing other items from The Bath Box because definitely they produce good stuff seriously. Like, SERIOUSLY good.

Keep supporting local products as well!! :)
